Month boundaries in 5788
Months appear in year order, beginning with Tishrei. The numbered year changes here even though the traditional count of months begins with Nisan. “First daytime date” is 1 of the named month, not necessarily the first day of its Rosh Chodesh observance, which can begin on day 30 of the preceding month.
5788 month boundaries; opening evenings are local, untimed dates
Civil daytime links open the actual selected date in the calendar. Most observances open the previous local evening and end at local nightfall on their final day. Minor fasts marked “dawn” begin that morning; Yom Kippur and Tisha B’Av begin the previous evening. These are date boundaries, not calculated clock times.
Read the Israel and Diaspora tables separately. Passover, Shavuot, Simchat Torah and festival-status days can differ. The tables identify yom tov dates as distinct from intermediate days; check your community’s observance and service timetable when making practical arrangements.
