Read the three columns

Standard gematria assigns the familiar values from Alef 1 through Tav 400. Ordinal values use the letter’s place from 1 to 22. The reduced-letter method reduces each individual letter to a digit before adding the letters. The resulting word total is not reduced again.

Our convention gives ך ם ן ף ץ the values of כ מ נ פ צ. A method assigning final forms 500–900 is a different scheme. Record that choice rather than treating two unlike totals as a calculation error.

Check a word, not a forecast

Read each word from right to left and add its letters. For חי, standard and ordinal give 8 + 10 = 18; reduced letters give 8 + 1 = 9. The changed total comes from the named arithmetic method. Matching totals alone do not establish that two people or events share a destiny.
